Financial Calculations

Postby Dick Seay » Wed Dec 26, 2012 3:11 am

Hello, I'm pretty new to Spiceworks so I apologize in advance if this question has been asked elsewhere.

I'm the system administrator for a small business that handles financial calculations, wire transfers and what not. On a day to day basis the employees here run large calculations in Excel which for the most part Excel does not like. A lot of times data comes in a csv format. Aside from financials some of the other employees also need to be able to run comparisons between the data in the excel sheets. What I'm looking for is a nudge in the right direction so I can EVENTUALLY move these guys over to a more modern way of running these calculations and comparisons rather than doing it all in Excel. Any input would be appreciated.

Not very helpful I know, but the first thing I can think of is to start to learn a programming language!!

I am in the accounting industry & we have a lot of specialised software for what we do. I would google the name of some of the specific types of calculations that you do & see what comes up, I expect there are lots of players in that industry, you would need to see what best fits your specific companies requirements.
